Exciting Update: General Travel Insurance Now Available to All Vunique Vacations Guests!

We are thrilled to announce a significant update at Vunique Vacations. We can now offer travel insurance to all our guests, regardless of their booking channel! In the past, if you did not book directly here on our website or via telephone with one of our reservationists, you were confined to the travel insurance offered on the platform you booked through. With this update, you can book your stay with Vunique through whatever method you prefer (although booking direct is always our recommendation!), and still choose to purchase our offered travel insurance.

We encourage every one of our guests to invest in Travel Insurance. One of the most common misconceptions about Travel Insurance is that it is only necessary if the area you’re visiting is at risk of a natural disaster. The truth is, Travel Insurance protects so much more than only what is happening on the ground here at Vunique. During the winter, many people enjoy escaping South to the sunshine because the weather at home is less than ideal. An investment in Travel Insurance protects your trip not only from unpredictable weather in your vacation destination but also protects your trip if unexpected weather at home or along your flight path causes your travel plans to be canceled (this is especially important to consider if your flight contains one or more layovers).

Travel Insurance doesn’t only pertain to canceled plans, though. There are a variety of benefits ranging from compensation for lost luggage to roadside assistance and emergency medical care. Although we hope it’s not something that you have to use, it’s important to understand your coverage plan. What Does Generali Travel Insurance Cover?

Travel insurance can provide a safety net for a variety of situations that might arise before or during your trip. Here’s a breakdown of what our policy includes:

  1. Trip Cancellation: Coverage if you need to cancel your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, natural disasters, winter weather, flight cancellations, or other covered reasons.
  2. Trip Interruption: Compensation for the unused portion of the trip and additional transportation costs if it is interrupted after departure.

  4. Baggage and Personal Belongings: Reimbursement for lost, stolen, or damaged baggage and personal items.

When Can You Purchase Travel Insurance?

When it comes to purchasing travel insurance, we recommend our guests purchase at the time of booking. On our website, you can add travel insurance to your cart before you enter your payment information. If you booked through another site, you can use this link to add travel insurance to your vacation. Travel insurance must be purchased prior to making your final payment in order to receive full benefits. Your final reservation payment is due 60 days in advance of your stay if it’s less than 14 days, and 90 days in advance of your stay if it exceeds 14 days.

If you do not purchase travel insurance prior to making your final payment, don’t worry! You are still eligible to add travel insurance to your trip up to 24 hours prior to your arrival, your coverage just might be more limited, for instance, ‘pre-existing conditions’ are no longer covered for cancellation.

Additionally, if you are booking during a time of year when the weather at your home or here in Florida holds a risk of interfering with your travel, the sooner you purchase insurance the better. During hurricane season here in Southwest Florida, you must purchase travel insurance before a storm is officially named a Tropical Storm or Hurricane to receive full coverage for your vacation.
